This home’s transformation was nothing short of dramatic—starting with the removal of the original roof to create taller ceilings throughout. The heart of the home, the kitchen and living room, now boasts soaring 14-foot cathedral ceilings, a nod to the homeowner’s childhood home. To balance the grandeur, we incorporated a warm, natural palette: a stone fireplace, exposed beams, and rich wood flooring, all working together to bring a sense of warmth and connection to the outdoors. One of the most special design elements is how the home embraces a beloved, mature tree at its center, forming an L-shape around it to keep it as a focal point. Inside, custom cabinetry adds both beauty and function, with a warm wood island and a plaster hood serving as statement pieces in the kitchen. Functionality was key in this redesign. A hardworking mudroom off the garage keeps daily life organized, while the homeowners' daughter had a special request—a space for both studying and reading. Though space was tight, we got creative and made it happen, incorporating a dedicated homework desk alongside a cozy reading nook. In the bonus room, we maximized versatility by installing both a Murphy bed and a built-in daybed—providing space for guests while also giving the kids a perfect spot to lounge. The result is a home that feels grand yet inviting, spacious yet deeply personal—crafted for the way this family truly lives.
